For the McPhails

Some very dear friends of ours respectfully requested that I post more often. So this is for them.

Being at at big church has some perks like...I just called David Crowder to see if his band would be interested in possibly coming to one of our quarterly youth rallies. It's kind of crazy because I was serious...before today I've always thought, "Man it'd be cool if one day David Crowder came to my church and played." Now I think, "wow, David Crowder actually may come to my church and play!" Craziness!

I do miss the small church stuff, too. Like when I worked from home...never talked to anyone and actually got all of my tasks done each day. I know that I'm the new guy at a very busy and often frequented church, so I know that people are wanting to come by and say hi, shoot the breeze, and talk about whatever. I enjoy that, because a month ago I was begging for interruptions...I say all this to say, be careful what you wish for. I do welcome interruptions, though...BUT I actually do have work to do, too.

All this to say, it's been a fast, busy, and great week at Westover. My big task was to get a feel for my new role and get my office set up...both are done! We're having lots of fun and are excited about our VERY LONG future here.

I hope this made Michael and Julie's day better...thanks for dinner last night, you guys are awesome!

p.s. DON'T MOVE!!!

Getting Settled

OK, so it's been a week here in Texas and at the new job and man-o-man has it been crazy...and fun...and just what we needed. The house is great, THANK YOU BILLY & SHELA!

I've been trying to get a good pic of the 10-12 deer that hang out on the property but it's been too dark each time. Out of the group of deer there's a 10 point buck that's almost trophy size. I'd like to get a couple shots at him...one with a camera and one with a rifle:).

Brodee is also doing incredibly well. At the doc's office today he weighed 9 pounds, 6 ounces and is 21.5 inches long. He's now ready for belly time and is progressing really well and way too fast for daddy.

One thing about working is that I'm not home for most of the day and boy-oh-boy do I miss my son! Didn't know I could miss someone that bad, but I can't help it. I love my boy and can't stand to be without him.

In other news...Brodee smiled for the first time tonight! Thank God I was home to see the first one. I was tickling him with one of his teething rattles and he finally lit up. We tried to get it on camera but below is the best shot we could get.

I was also giving him some fish kisses...which I do everday when I get home, but today he thought my lips was a bottle and we got some cute pics of that too. Enjoy!

We're Heeeeeeeeeeerrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrre!

Just a tad over 1200 miles in 2 days and we're officially back in Texas again. The trip was long, filled with lots stops for diaper changes and feedings. BUT, Brodee did a GREAT job...slept most of the time and chilled in his car seat the rest of the time. Neena and Roxy (dog) did good as well. The movers actually showed up on time (more on that later). Our stuff is in and now we're really exhausted.

The house is great...sits on a little more than an acre, the last two nights we've had deer in our yard! I'll put pics up later. For now, I'm in much need of rest.

My quick Rant:

I hate moving...with a passion. We've moved two times on our own and it was a nightmare. So this time we decided to outsource the moving...we hired movers. On the loading day the guys said, "I'll be there at 8 am. It takes me 3-4 hours to load" We said, "Sweet!" What actually happened: He showed up at 11:30 am, and wasn't done loading until 8:30 PM!!!!!!!!! We said....Can't really say it:). On unloading day, today, he said, "I'll be there at 9 am and it will take me 3 hours tops to unload." We said, "Yeah...right!" What actually happened: He showed up at 10 am and didn't finish until 5 pm. We said, "At least he was faster...ugh!" With all the garbage we put up with...I'm still glad we "outsourced".

Ok campers....night-night time!
