UPDATE...This is a Big One!

Neena has dilated to 2.5 cm and is 60% effaced. As mentioned before, Neena is Group-B Strep positive...so the update is: Neena will be induced next week! The tentative dates are for Oct. 4, 5, or 6. Our doc has us scheduled at the hospital and we'll firm up the date at Neena's next appointment on Tuesday, Oct. 1st. WOW we're going to have a baby in 10 days...at the LATEST!!

Why are we inducing...in case you're wondering? Because we live almost 40 miles from our hospital, both freeways are under construction, and Neena has Group-B Strep. The doc spoke to us today about this and how it would be the safest way to be sure Neena was in a controlled environment, closely monitored by docs, and be sure to be receiving all the antibiotics that her and Brodee needs to be sure that Brodee does not get Group-B. Also, this will NOT be a drug induced labor...NO Petosin (sp?)! Neena has progressed far enough that they will simply break her water.

So, Neena is in her last week of pregnancy. We're both kind of in shock to KNOW when this is going to happen. After her doc checked Neena today she said that she really could go into labor at any minute so we're trying to keep Neena still, calm and not overly-stressed. So, please keep up the prayers for Neena and Brodee as we're at the very end of this pregnancy. The next post will more-than-likely contain pics of our little Brodee!!

OH MY GOSH!!!! That is so exciting! First off, I'm so jealous that Neena is so dilated already... I was never that dilated until in the throes of full-on labor with both of our kids. 2nd, I'm so glad that y'all don't have to use pitocin... did that with Darby to speed up contractions and contractions are so much worse with pitocin! And I'm also glad you can get the worry of trying to get to the hospital in time off you minds. We're just so excited for you all and can't wait to see pics of the little guy! Praying for you all as you are in the home stretch!!!

Hey man,
I just read your last two blogs and want you to know that I'm scared too and I'm just going to be a grandfather!! About 25 years ago I was right where you are today. Scared to death that I didn't have what it takes to be a father to a baby. I didn't even know who I was let alone try to be a mature person for an infant. Well Neena was born and God did an amazing job with her. We just get to be dads and watch how He works. But now Neena, the love of your and my life is giving birth to a son that you will sacrifice for and love until you die. God took my fears and gave you a wonderful beautiful wife. Now God will take your fears and give you a son to raise for Him. No, you don't have what it takes, but none of us do. God will give you eveything you need though so love Him and then love your little guy as He has loved you.
I'm proud of you,
the old guy

Well between your last two blogs and the old guys comments, I am now full blown in tears as well. Thank you Josh, for being so honest in your fears and sharing them out loud. I always love to read your thoughts, since the rest of the time or at least 98% of the time you are joking with me ;-))
I can't say anything better than the old guy. He wraps it up. As we laid in bed, after becoming pregnant with Neena, scared to death and didn't want our child to make the same mistakes we had, we cried as well. We finally came up up with the phase "do your best and pray for the rest" and that is what we did. You can have the phrase as well if you like it. It seemed to work on two wonderful daughters of ours. I just can't get over my baby of 25 years ago is having her own baby. Thank you for loving her so well and taking care of her. Lots of people are praying and God is faithful. As was mentioned, we are praying for all 3 of you as you are entering a new stage in life. We will help in any way we can as you make this new journey. Thank you again for your honesty and I think God will use that to make you an even greater father.
Did you get that police escort yet? ;-)) We are on full alert and anxiously await the call.
We love all three of you. granna

YAY! Congratulations!!! We can't wait to see his little face. We are praying for a good last week and for health and safety for Neena and Brodee. I'm glad that you won't have to fight traffic (hopefully) for such a long drive to your hospital! Good luck to everyone. :)
